Symphony Orchestra Side-by-Side with the Minnesota Orchestra
The Minnesota Orchestra has invited the students of the MYS Symphony Orchestra to participate in a side-by-side rehearsal conducted by Robert Spano on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Click here for more information.
Symphony Solo Competition
The stakes are high as MYS’ top musicians perform in a recital to determine the winner of the annual Symphony Solo Competition. The winner goes on to perform his or her concerto with the MYS Symphony Orchestra. Open to Symphony students only. Competition finals will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011, 4:00pm, Sundin Hall, Hamline University, St. Paul. For the Symphony Solo Competition application click here.
Chamber Concert
MYS Chamber Concerts are an opportunity for MYS students to showcase their talent in small ensembles, duos and as soloists. The event takes place each spring in an intimate setting at St. Luke Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
Small Ensemble Referrals
MYS is frequently contacted to provide small ensemble music for public and private events. Students who have extra-curricular small ensembles can register with MYS to receive referrals. MYS Soliciting Online Auction Items!
Get Involved and Support MYS
From February 15–March 15, MYS will be hosting an online auction, and we need your donations! By donating an item or multiple items to our online auction, you will support MYS orchestras and our talented young musicians. Perhaps you have a cabin you would donate for a weekend, tickets to a sporting event or a concert, or an ensemble that would donate a performance. MYS Winter Concert
Join us for our Winter Concert at Orchestra Hall Sunday, Feb. 12 at 6:30pm. The concert will feature Symphony Solo Competition Winner Luther Warren performing the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
