String Orchestra: $585
Annual payment due at first rehearsal, less $100 deposit=$485
Trimester payment less $100 deposit + $30 service fee=$172/trimester

Philharmonic Orchestra: $620
Annual payment due at first rehearsal, less $100 deposit=$520
Trimester payment less $100 deposit + $30 service fee=$183/trimester

Repertory Orchestra: $715
Annual payment due at first rehearsal, less $100 deposit=$615
Trimester payment less $100 deposit + $30 service fee=$215/trimester

Symphony Orchestra: $735
Annual payment due at first rehearsal, less $100 deposit=$635
Trimester payment less $100 deposit + $30 service fee=$222/trimester

Family Discount: There is a 10% discount for families with multiple children in the program. This discount applies to each additional child.

MYS offers tuition assistance programs to ensure that all qualified students may participate.

Tuition Deposit: A $100, non refundable tuition deposit is due when you submit your acceptance confirmation for your orchestra placement. This deposit will apply toward your full tuition. If you drop out of the program before the season begins, your deposit will not be refunded. The balance of your tuition, less the $100 deposit, can be paid using one of the payment options. If a tuition deposit is a hardship, please contact the MYS office at 651-699-5811 and speak with Rachel Bittner, Operations Manager.

Payment Options: MYS offers two payment options; paying tuition in full by August 26, 2011, or making three trimester payments. If you are paying per trimester you incur a one-time $30 processing fee. The first trimester payment is due on August 26, 2011, and the remaining payments are due on the first rehearsal of 2nd and 3rd trimesters. If you need additional installment payments, please contact the MYS Operations Manager. Payments may be made on-line with a credit card at www.mnyouthsymphonies.org/tuition/payment or by check (payable to MYS).

Retreat fees: Philharmonic/Repertory/Symphony: $95; String Orchestra: $35. Retreat fees are due on August 26, 2011. Retreat fees are a separate payment from tuition and must be paid in full.

MYS Tuition Assistance Program

MYS offers tuition assistance program to ensure that all qualified students may participate. Students, parents and guardians may earn tuition credit in exchange for completing work assignments at MYS rehearsals, concerts and other activities, as required. Participation in this program is based on financial need, work experience, and the ability to meet assigned work requirements. Click here to download the the MYS Tuition Assistance Application

Donations to the Carissa Hayen Memorial Scholarship Fund provide some of the financial support for our tuition Assistance Program.

Tuition Refunds

If you leave at any point during a trimester, for any reason, you are still responsible for paying tuition for that trimester. If you have paid the full season tuition, MYS will issue a refund minus any applicable discount(s) for additional family members or student referrals, and a $25.00 processing fee. No refunds are made once the first rehearsal of a trimester begins.

Mary West Memorial String Scholarship

The Mary West Memorial String Scholarship is an annual award given to a deserving student. Funds for this scholarship are provided by donations made to the Mary West Memorial Fund. The funds are administered and distributed through MYS by a Selection Committee. The scholarship award may be used for private violin, viola, cello or bass instruction, music camps, or other pursuits that will give the student a continuing education in music. The scholarship will be awarded at the final concert of the MYS season. If adequate funding is not available, the MYS Board of Directors may exercise the option of making no scholarship available that season.
