Rehearsals

MYS rehearses every Saturday from September through April at Highland Park Junior and Senior High Schools. The four orchestras rehearse during the following times:

Retreats

Overnight retreats for Philharmonic, Repertory and Symphony are held at YMCA’s Camp Pepin in Pepin, WI. The fee for each student is $85. The String Orchestra will attend a day retreat in St. Paul. The fee for each student in Strings is $30. Retreat fees are separate from tuition. Details are mailed with acceptance letters. All retreats are mandatory.

Music Education Classes

MYS provides a comprehensive musical experience for its students. Taking advantage of supplemental classes such as harmony, composition and solfege can help prepare you for college courses – and may even help you test out of some freshman requirements! Parents and siblings are welcome to attend these classes that are offered at no additional charge to MYS students.

“Conversations” Sessions

MYS sponsors a series of information sessions for parents, students, music teachers and others with an interest in the topic. The classes are held at Highland High School on Saturday mornings.
