February 21 | Q&A Presentation: Pursuing Music in College (with Tony Thomann)

  • Students and families considering any type of music involvement in college are invited to attend this session—whether you’re interested in performance, music education, a minor, or still exploring your options. MYS staff will share a short presentation on different music pathways, their own experiences, and how to research programs, followed by plenty of time for Q&A and to connect with other families.

March 7 (12:00–1:00 PM) | Performance and Workshop with Rampart Winds (featuring U.S. Air Force Academy Band members)

  • Rampart Winds, a woodwind quintet of professional musicians of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, will present an educational outreach visit at MYS. The event will begin with a brief performance, followed by a masterclass with MYS chamber ensembles and an interactive Q&A highlighting diverse music career pathways. As one of nine performing ensembles in The United States Air Force Academy Band, Rampart Winds is a featured woodwind quintet that performs a wide range of musical genres.

March 14 | Harmonies on Parade (with Mark Mandarano)

  • In this Music Theory mini-session, we will go on a tour of harmonic styles, concentrating on the 19th century, following the development of harmonic complexity that led to the Modern Age.
